Boeing pays Alaska Airlines $160m after plane crash
Boeing has paid Alaska Airlines $160m (£126m) to compensate for losses it suffered. This time it comes after January’s weather blast.
Alaska said the money will make up for money lost in the first three months of the year and expects to recoup some money in the coming months. An Alaska Airlines plane crashed shortly after takeoff.
Thousands of flights were cancelled.
However, a law firm criticized some of those on board the Alaskan plane. .
“Obviously, Boeing believes it is more important to pay those whose company profits are at risk, but not because their lives are at risk in the event of a loss,” attorney Daniel Laurence said.
>Airlines are working to postpone flights as Boeing cuts production of new planes to address manufacturing issues and transportation safety changes.
In January, Alaska warned of $150 million in losses. kill “Despite several delays following the accident and the placement of the 737-9 MAX, February and March were better than we expected,” the airline said. This means spending in the first three months of the year will be higher than the Expected $4 billion (£3.16 billion). An Alaska Airlines flight from Portland, Ore., to California survived the crash.
A preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board said four locks were used on a plane door but had not been secured.
Boeing is currently facing an investigation into the accident, including lawsuits against those on board. That year, the top leader left the company due to difficulties.
