Two important players are sidelined with injuries, further hurting New Zealand’s team for the Pakistan series. Prior to the forthcoming matches, get up to date on the most recent advancements and lineup modifications.
A few important players in New Zealand’s team for the T20I series against Pakistan have suffered injuries. The Indian Premier League has caused numerous players in the Blackcaps’ squad to miss out on the team’s upcoming five-match series against the Men in Green. It will now be without a few more participants.
A five-match Twenty20 international series between Pakistan and New Zealand is scheduled to begin on April 18. For the series, the New Zealand team will be without a number of important players. Two more players have been added to the list of those who are unable to play.
Due to injuries, both opening batsman Finn Allen and fast bowler Adam Milne will miss the entire series. Prior to their departure this evening, Milne sustained an ankle injury, and Allen sustained a back injury during training. Due to the nature of their individual injuries, they would be unable to participate in any of the five matches that are scheduled to begin in Rawalpindi next week. In the upcoming weeks, details on their return to cricket will be confirmed, according to a statement released by New Zealand Cricket.
Zak Foulkes and Tom Blundell were named substitutes.
Notably, NZC has selected all-rounder Zak Foulkes and wicketkeeper batsman Tom Blundell to take the place of the two injured players. “Foulkes joins a BLACKCAPS squad for the first time, while the experienced Blundell toured Pakistan last year and will provide solid cover in terms of wicket-keeping and top-order batting,” NZC stated.
Gary Stead, the head coach of New Zealand, took responsibility for the injury problems and said the medical staff would try to get the cricket players back on the field. “We are sorry for Finn and Adam, who both sustained injuries so soon after the trip began. Since the last World Cup, they have performed admirably for us in the T20 format. Over the coming weeks, our medical networks and support staff will be closely collaborating with both players to finalize preparations for their treatment and eventual return to cricket,” stated Stead.
Notably, the absence of key players who are headed for the IPL has left the Kiwis squad severely reduced already. Notable players unavailable for the series include Will Young (to play in county cricket), Tom Latham (paternity), and Tim Southee.
The show will premiere in Rawalpindi on April 18 and run through April 27 in Lahore.
