Varshangalkku Shesham vs. Aavesham: Film by Fahadh Faasil Wins Against Nepo Bandwagon of Vineeth Sreenivasan
- In the box office showdown between ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ and ‘Aavesham’, Fahadh Faasil’s film emerges victorious over Vineeth Sreenivasan’s nepotism-themed production. Discover the cinematic clash and its outcome in this fierce battle of narratives.
Varshangalkku against Aavesham Shesham’s box office earnings: In terms of both local and worldwide earnings, Fahadh Faasil’s gangster comedy has outperformed Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Dhyan Sreenivasan and Pranav Mohanlal-starring film by around Rs 3 crore.
Aavesham vs. Varshangalkku Shesham collection: 2024 has shown to be a very successful year for the Malayalam cinema industry thus far, with a string of hits and movies that have sparked heated debates. The recent success of Blessy’s Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life) set the precedent for the Eid-Vishu season, as two big movies, Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Varshangalkku Shesham (starring Dhyan Sreenivasan and Pranav Mohanlal) and Jithu Madhavan’s Aavesham (starring Fahadh Faasil), were released on April 11.
Both movies have already been huge hits despite coming from quite different genres, and they made impressive sums of money on their first weekend of release. But as they prepared for the important test on Monday, Aavesham beat Varshangalkku Shesham in both local and worldwide earnings by almost Rs 3 crore.
Industry tracker Sacnilk reports that Varshangalkku Shesham’s domestic nett currently stands at Rs 13.3 crore, while Aavesham registered an India nett collection of Rs 16 crore in the four days after its release on Thursday. Both films achieved their highest-ever single-day net collection in India on August 14 (Sunday), with Varshangalkku Shesham earning Rs 4.1 crore and Aavesham earning Rs 4.75 crore. At present, Varshangalkku Shesham has a worldwide revenue of Rs 30.65 crore, whilst Aavesham has a gross of Rs 33 crore.
Aavesham has also demonstrated its dominance in Kerala, earning Rs 12.18 crore in four days, according to local industry tracker What The Fuss. With 8,13,801 admissions spread over 3,353 shows, the theater has an overall occupancy percentage of 84.61 percent. Conversely, Varshangalkku Shesham garnered an occupancy percentage of 78.16 percent overall during the same period, with 6,71,261 admissions spread across 3,249 shows, earning Rs 10.06 crore.
While both movies’ daily totals are significantly less than those of Aadujeevitham, they are on level with Manjummel Boys, the highest-grossing Malayalam movie ever. Both Aavesham and Varshangalkku Shesham, like Manjummel Boys, are anticipated to draw repeat viewers, guaranteeing robust collections in the coming weeks. This is in contrast to Aadujeevitham, which has been suffering a major reduction in collections after its second week due to decreased interest in rewatching.
Jai Ganesh, starring Unni Mukundan and directed by Ranjith Sankar, was not a big hit during the Aavesham-Varshangalkku Shesham tsunami. According to What The Fuss, the movie only made Rs 1.19 crore in Kerala during its first weekend of release, with 77,298 admissions spread over 1,290 screens and a combined occupancy percentage of only 29.57 percent.
